Privacy policy

Last updated: 17 June 2026

A note on this document OrbitPrep is currently in early access. This policy describes our current practices honestly and will be reviewed by a qualified privacy lawyer before any paid product launches, and updated as Australia's Children's Online Privacy Code takes effect. If you have any questions, contact us directly — see the bottom of this page.

1. Who we are

OrbitPrep ("OrbitPrep," "we," "us," or "our") provides an online preparation platform for students sitting Victoria's selective entry high school exams. OrbitPrep is based in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and the choices available to you.

OrbitPrep is committed to handling personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), and is preparing to comply with the forthcoming Children's Online Privacy Code once it takes effect.

2. Information we collect

We collect only what is necessary to provide and improve the OrbitPrep diagnostic and waitlist service. Currently, this includes:

What we collectWhy we collect it
Email addressTo add you to the OrbitPrep waitlist and contact you about early access
Student year level (e.g. Year 7 or 8)To calibrate the difficulty of sample diagnostic questions
Stated interest area (e.g. space, gaming, history)To theme diagnostic questions in a way that's engaging for the student
Self-reported maths confidence levelTo set an appropriate starting difficulty
Diagnostic results (questions answered correctly/incorrectly)To generate a results summary and improve our question generation over time

We do not currently require an account, password, or any other identifying information beyond an email address. We do not collect a student's full name, school name, date of birth, or any other identifying detail through the sample diagnostic.

3. How information is collected

Information is submitted directly by the parent or guardian completing the sample diagnostic and waitlist form on our website. We use a third-party form processing service (Formspree) to receive and forward this information to us by email. We do not currently use cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party advertising technology on this site.

4. Use of AI in our service

OrbitPrep uses Anthropic's Claude AI model to generate diagnostic questions personalised to the year level, interest, and stated confidence level provided. The information sent to generate these questions does not include any personally identifying information — only the year level, interest category, and maths confidence selection. No email address, name, or other identifying detail is sent to the AI model.

5. Children's information

OrbitPrep's sample diagnostic is intended to be used by a parent or guardian together with their child, or by the child under a parent or guardian's supervision. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from a child without the involvement of a parent or guardian. As our forthcoming full product will be used directly by students, including children under 18, we are designing OrbitPrep to comply with Australia's Children's Online Privacy Code in advance of it taking effect, including:

6. How we store and protect information

Information submitted through our website is processed via Formspree and stored in our email inbox. As we build the full OrbitPrep product, student data will be stored on servers located in Australia (AWS Sydney region) to ensure data residency within Australia. We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information to any third party for any purpose, including advertising.
